Wet, Windy Weather Forecast 12/22 – 12/26

The revised weather forecast for this week has a flood watch starting Tuesday, 10AM through Friday, 10PM.  Moderate to heavy rain associated with an atmospheric river will bring up to 6″ – 8″ in the coastal mountains. Creeks and streams could see rapid rises during and after heavy rainfall.  Very hazardous, impactful winds are predicted Tuesday through early Friday along our entire coastline and higher elevations inland with power outages likely. The forecast for our area this morning:

  • High wind watch 7PM Tuesday through 4AM Wednesday with southerly winds, 20 – 30 mph and gusts up to 50 – 60 mph possible.
  • Rainfall amounts between:
    • 0.4″ – 1.1″ Monday
    • 0.9″ – 1.8″ Tuesday
    • 0.8″ – 1.6″ Wednesday
    • 1.1″ – 1.9″ Thursday
    • 0.0″ – 0.7″ Friday

Please continue to monitor CMD31 and your GMRS radio if you have one and your community has a GMRS communication plan.  If we are called upon by La Honda Fire to assist then notification will be on CMD31 and through our forum. If possible there will be an SMC Alert. Your ham radio will be the primary way that you are notified as it is independent of infrastructure.
